COURSE TITLE: RLSS Lifeguard Course 7th Edition
VENUE: Frank F Harrison School Site
COURSE CONTENT: To introduce participants to skills required to be a Qualified lifeguard.
The qualification comprises of modules both of which must be completed before IQL will award the National Pool Lifeguard qualification.
The foundation module provides training and assessment in knowledge of the general aspects of Pool Operation, Supervision, accident prevention and rescue.
The site specific module, takes the skills and knowledge acquired during foundation training and puts them into an applied environment that relates to the specific nature of the venue of which training is being delivered.
Employment at the training facility is not a prerequisite for completion of the site specific element of the programme.
QUALIFICATION RLSS National Pool Lifeguard
OBTAINABLE;
ASSESSMENT METHOD: Assessment is by examination being brought to assess a three
hour examination both theory and practical in content.
The full process will be explained on induction to the course.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT: A good swimming ability to achieve a 200 metre swim in 5 minutes is needed by all students. Students must be 16 years old
TRAINING EXEMPTIONS: In some circumstances, candidates may be able to show evidence of
prior learning achievement. In such circumstances, training times may be reduced in situations where this would not create disruption to a course programme.
Exemptions may apply to holders of the following awards and qualifications:
Current RLSS UK Bronze Medallion or higher award (12 hours)
Current HSE approved First Aid at Work Certificate (12 hours)
Current RLSS UK Life support £ Award (12 hours)
Current STA NARS (PL) Qualification (12 hours)
Where candidates wish to claim a training exemption, they must provide
the course trainer with the original qualification prior to the start of the course. A maximum of 12 hours accreditation for prior learning may be Claimed.
